Cet été, j’ai travaillé dans la cuisine où j’étais animatrice à Sandy Hill Camp en Maryland, où j’allais chaque été depuis 5 ans. Je suis devenue collègue avec quelques animateurs qui étaient mes animateurs quand j’étais une campeuse. J’y ai passé quatre semaines et j’ai travaillé dans la cuisine pour deux repas par jour. Quand je n’étais pas dans la cuisine, je passais du temps à connaître les campeurs et à la fois je passais du temps avec mes collègues. Il faisait très chaud la, mais on avait des activités amusantes dans l’eau, qui m’ont aidé à me refroidir de la chaleur. Mon activité préférée avec les campeurs était la balançoire énorme qui se trouvait au centre de la corde. Mon travail préféré dans la cuisine était de préparer la nourriture pour les prochains repas, parce que je pouvais écouter de la musique et faire le travail tout seul. Je n’ai pas aimé travailler avec le lave-vaisselle, parce qu’il rendait mes vêtements très mouillés et parfois sales. Les assiettes aussi devenaient très chaudes et alors, ils me feraient mal a mes mains, même si j’ai porté les gants, et aussi le lave-vaisselle me faisait transpirer. En general, toutefois, j’ai adoré mon travail cet été et je ne peux pas attendre de rentrer l’été prochain. C’était de loin le meilleur parti de mon été, parce-que j’ai pu passer du temps avec les personnes qui j’aime dans l’endroit qui j’aime.
This summer, I worked in the kitchen and was a camp counselor at Sandy Hill Camp in Maryland, where I grew up going every summer for 5 years. I became coworkers with some of the counselors I had when I was a camper. I spent 4 weeks there and worked in the kitchen for two daily meals. When I wasn’t in the kitchen, I got to get to know my campers and hang out with my coworkers. It was super hot there, but we had fun activities in the water, which helped cool me down from the heat. My favorite activity to do with the campers was the giant swing on the ropes course. My favorite kitchen job was preparing food for the upcoming meals because I could listen to music and do the work by myself. I didn’t like working in the dishwasher because it would get my clothes super wet and sometimes dirty. The dishes would also get super hot so it would hurt my hands, even though I was wearing gloves, and it would also make me super sweaty. Overall, though, I loved my job this summer, and I can’t wait to go back next summer. It was by far the best part of my summer because I got to spend time with the people I love in the place that I love.
