Spring Showdown: AIS/EA Day Makes One Final Comeback

With the school year coming to an end, the student athletes are preparing to hang up their lacrosse sticks, untie their laces, and say goodbye to their teammates until next season. However, rumours have recently surfaced which claim that Dean of Students, Mrs. Leonard, is planning one final sports tournament. These rumors have sparked commotion amongst the Agnes Irwin community. Fortunately for our skilled investigators at The Wack, the speculation has been confirmed; Agnes Irwin will be hosting a spring sports event against none other than our notorious rival, Episcopal Academy. That’s right; you heard correctly! Don’t turn in your uniforms yet, Owls! Instead, get ready to face off and defeat the Churchmen in our newest, most thrilling sports competition yet: AIS/EA Day: Spring Edition

The event will be hosted on May 19th, 2025, and promises to bring the same excitement, rivalry, and school spirit we all look forward to during the fall, only this time it will happen in the spring sunshine! With a wide variety of events, including lacrosse, track, rowing, and golf, these spring athletes will have one final opportunity to demonstrate their talent, determination, and hard work as representatives of The Agnes Irwin School. Additionally, in an unforeseen surprise, AIS/EA Day: Spring Edition will feature a never-before-seen Zumba dance-off hosted by Ms. Lisa Abate. Judged by the P.E. department, AIS dancers will battle it out in a high-intensity showdown and twirl their way to victory against the fatigued Churchmen.

Rather than using the famed banner as the prize for the winning team, this year’s victors will receive a massive gold trophy with the date and school name engraved on the front! This legendary trophy will be a new symbol of triumph for the champion school, and spectators expect it will be proudly displayed in the AIS trophy case very soon.

The bleachers will be filled with students chanting the traditional AIS spirit songs. So mark your calendars, paint your faces, and be ready to lose your voice! Because this spring, we will watch our owls once again, ‘Protect The Nest’ and ‘Beat EA’– let’s make this first victory a memorable one!
