Solitude
it is an ocean
the first wave may not seem so bad
drawing you near away from life’s frustrations
at first, it is a break
the water calms you
The cool breeze
you shut your eyes
but then in comes
the second wave
you start to lose control
you want to go back
your patience grows thin
You want to get out
The deepwater you’re in
the next wave knocks you over
steals the breath from your lungs
you try to turn around
see how far you’ve come
the saltwater stings your eyes
and you’re so alone
nobody hears your cries
you come up for air
every cough brings you fear
When will this isolation end?
When will you see the land again?
Soon you’ll hear them sound the horn
And you’ll be safe from this terrible storm
