The Philadelphia Eagles, known locally as “The Birds,” have been soaring. They are the last remaining undefeated team in the NFL and have begun their season 6-0. The last time they had such an outstanding record was back in 2004 when they reached…. (wait for it)…The Super Bowl!
Head Coach Nick Sirianni is now in his second year with the Eagles. Just last week, he had his baby boy on his knee while talking to the press after the game – how cute is that! The Eagles are led by quarterback Jalen Hurts, who is as much of a threat when running as he is when passing. Hurts, who is only 23 years old, is known to be respectful, hard-working, trustworthy and diligent both on and off the field.
. Recently, the Eagles dominated the Washington Commanders and former Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz, who was traded to the Commanders this year. Last week, they faced their former coach, Doug Pederson, and gained his respect by beating his team, the Jacksonville Jaguars.
According to Eagles center Jason Kelce, who has been with the Eagles since 2011: “We’re a tough, physical, hard-working group which also has talent,” Together these traits are “usually a good combo,” he added.
The Eagles have an outstanding group of receivers catching Hurts’ passes. Because they are acrobatic “Birds,” one of the other players started calling them “Batmen.” Now, fans are showing up to games wearing Batman costumes. We’ll likely see more Batman costumes locally this Halloween!
There are certain important qualities of a true Eagles fan. You have to bleed green even if they lose, love them even if you boo them, and scream at the top of your lungs–if you’re at the game–when the other quarterback is trying to shout out the signals. Most importantly, you have to hate the Dallas Cowboys! Also, you need to learn the Eagles song, which they sing after every touchdown. “Fly, Eagles, Fly. On the road to Victory…” Look up the rest of the words so you’re ready for the next game!
Go Birds!
