On Sunday, September 14th, the Class of 2027 gathered at Haverford train station clad, as they often are, in red; this time because they were en route to the Phillies game. They boarded the train in high spirits, flooding a train car with festivity, as well as quite a lot of noise.
They navigated through the subway and the city with remarkable ease, and arrived at Citizens Bank Park just in time to find their seats before the first pitch. They took their seats, high above home plate, and the game began. Right away, the Phillies hit two home runs, and the Class of 2027 was on their feet in excitement.
The game would only be downhill from there, but the Class of 2027 did not let this stop them from enjoying the game. There were multiple trips for food, arguably the best part of any baseball game, and even when the Phillies were behind by 5 runs, they found something to cheer for.
Many students remarked on the value of this experience, one commenting that “it was my first real live sports game, and it was such a great experience.” For many, this was an incredible way to have a new experience, surrounded by the comfort of their peers. Another student said, “it was such a fun bonding experience, and it was a really great time to talk with people that I didn’t normally talk with.”
Overall, this trip to see a Phillies game was an invaluable adventure, allowing for some students to experience something new, and all to bond and connect in new ways.
