This is Mrs. Leonard’s fifth year at AIS and, in addition to being the ninth-grade class dean, she also teaches U.S. History and is the Dean of Students. Originally from Canada, Mrs. Leonard majored in U.S history and minored in political science and geography in college and loves “studying the idea of geography determining where people live and how they live in that place.” She has a profound philosophy about the reasons for conflicts between nations today. As Dean of Students, Mrs. Leonard’s role is to oversee the other class deans and advisors and to ensure their social and emotional well-being. Outside of school, Mrs. Leonard has three young children, the oldest of whom has been going to AIS for six years, who she spends most of her time with. She loves to go biking and running, as well as hiking and in general just loves being outdoors, especially with her kids. During the 2020-2021 school year, Mrs. Leonard is most excited to meet a new class of freshmen and connect with them more. One reason she likes being an educator is because she really likes being able to make new relationships with a new class of girls every year. Thank you, Mrs. Leonard, for everything that you contribute to AIS!
