When asked what her favorite part of being the Student Body President is, Ayanna Dunlop said that she loves being able to “represent our amazing student body and have the chance to create a space where we all feel accepted and validated.” Having attended AIS since freshman year, Ayanna had not previously run for any leadership positions before running earlier this year as a candidate for Student Body President, and winning the position. Some of Ayanna’s plans for the 2020-2021 school year include normalizing virtual classes and at-home-learning as well as figuring out how to have the regular school events online and making the year flow as smoothly as possible. Ayanna also puts an emphasis on staying positive through these turbulent times. Besides being the Student Body President at Agnes Irwin, Ayanna also is the Vice President of the Philadelphia Chapter of Jack and Jill of America. Founded in 1938, Jack and Jill is an organization that was formed by African American mothers who wanted to bring together children in a social and cultural environment. Ayanna loves and is proud to be a leader in her chapter. Another one of her outside commitments includes being a member of the Quinn Center for Performing Arts in Germantown. Although her schedule is very busy, Ayanna loves finding time to bake as well as watching a good TV show and always enjoys making her family laugh. We are so grateful for everything she has done, and will continue to do, for our Agnes Irwin community!
